The archive gallery is still active and searchable both for comments and images here:

Just use the checkboxes to prune your search to the desired results.
Please note that when clicking myarchive gallery links in the comments, the URLs will need to be modified before navigating, so do the following:
Copy the URL link
Edit the URL by substituting the keyword thearchive where gallery appears in the URL itself
Copy and Paste the modified URL into another window and go
PS Commenting is still active in the archive, however, comments made after the migration to Photopost (2015/2016) may not be searchable. Same for images uploaded after the migration.
